PROP: Sack Barrow

The item on offer is a vintage Sack Barrow, also known as a hand trolley. Designed for manually moving heavy or bulky items, such as sacks, boxes, or crates, with greater ease and leverage than carrying them by hand. Made from wood, with some metal components for the axle, wheels, and the lower toe plate. The wood shows signs of age and wear, indicating its vintage nature, potentially Art Deco, reflecting early 20th-century design period. It features a tall, upright frame with a platform or toe plate at the bottom for sliding under loads, and two solid rubber wheels to facilitate movement. The design is functional and robust, typical of early industrial or agricultural equipment used for transport, and built for durability. At some stage in the past two planks of wood have been added.

It must be noted that the lovely Sack Barrow has had a pretty easy life upon arrival at our chocolate shop almost a decade ago, as heavy lifting duties were not in its job description. This vintage piece was simply required to sit in a window or corner of the store to enhance the rustic ambience of its surrounds. The versatility of this unique object allows for numerous applications in both interior and exterior settings. How will you put the Sack Barrow to work?
