PROP: Charcoal Iron

Available is an antique charcoal iron, also known as a coal iron or box iron, which was used for pressing clothes before the advent of electric irons. Unlike modern irons, these irons were heated by placing burning charcoal inside the hollow chamber. Made of cast iron, it features a wooden handle for insulation and a distinctive rooster-shaped latch, used to secure the lid where the charcoal was placed. These irons were commonly used by women for domestic tasks like pressing clothes and linen from the mid-19th century onwards. Antique charcoal irons are now sought after as decorative pieces, doorstops, or additions to rustic displays in chocolate shops.
